Cardi B was at the center of her Malaysian and Indonesian fans’ attention this week when she posted photos of popular Southeast Asian snacks on her Instagram.
Her feast included curry puffs, fried popiah (spring rolls), bihun (fried rice noodles), and pau buns. The Grammy award-winning rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, even filmed herself eating what appears to be fried spring rolls.
She didn’t comment on the food but judging by her video, she sure looked like she enjoyed them.

Needless to say, her fans from Malaysia and Indonesia, where these snacks are believed to have originated, were floored.
“So Cardi B eats bihun, curry puff, and fried popiah? Which government meeting is she at?” Twitter user ZeSpooky joked from Malaysia. The tweet, which was among the first to highlight Cardi B’s food adventures, was shared more than 18,000 times.
Twitter user @Poishanus had posted from Indonesia screenshots from the rapper’s Instagram, saying: “Cardi B has been fond of local food for a while… queen behavior.”

The rapper’s feast was actually of Pinoy origin, as her Filipino aunt-in-law was the one who prepared the Filipino dishes.
“This cuisine is Philippines ’cause y’all know my aunt-in-law, my aunt, she’s like my aunt already because…Man! You’ve been around for 22 years?” Cardi said in a separate upload on social media.
The curry puffs are actually empanadas, a pastry filled with a variety of ingredients like meat, vegetables, or cheese. Meanwhile, the “popiah” are actually lumpia, a deep-fried roll usually filled with ground meat, carrots, and spices.
Cardi B seems to love Asian food. Other social media posts from the rapper included what appears to be chicken adobo and instant ramen.
