A Mount Alvernia Hospital shuttle bus crashed into a bus stop along Braddell Road towards Bishan today (Jul 26), injuring 13 people in the process. Eight passengers and the driver — who reportedly sustained serious injuries — were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, while two were brought to Raffles Hospital and another two to KK Women’s and Children Hospital.

The SMRT-operated bus — which ended up on the pedestrian sidewalk — looked to be badly damaged in the wake of the accident, and there were shards of glass scattered across the ground.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted to the accident at 12:10pm, and two fire engines, four ambulances and two support vehicles were dispatched.

According to The Straits Times, a hospital spokesman said that 13 other passengers on the bus were unhurt but brought to Mount Alvernia for check-ups at the walk-in clinic.

“Our priority and primary concern now is to provide the best care to the 13 passengers who are currently with us at our 24-hour walk-in clinic,” she said.

The free regular shuttle service offered by Mount Alvernia Hospital counts Bishan and Novena MRT stations as stops along its route.

At about 1:09pm, the Land Transport Authority uploaded a tweet to notify drivers of the accident.
