Bangkok’s No. 40 bus burst into flames on Sukhumvit Road — just steps away from the Gateway Ekkamai shopping mall and the UNESCO office — at about 9:30am today.
Firefighters were able to put out the flames 15 minutes later.
Luckily, there were no injuries reported, but the fire predictably worsened the already brutal morning traffic in Bangna and the inbound Sukhumvit Road.
The cause of the fire has not been identified.
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time Bus No. 40 has caught fire. In September 2016, the bus burst into flames on Mahachai road due to a gas leak. There were no injuries.
