Chinese Opera ( “Ngiw”) was brought to Thailand over 300 hundred years ago by the the “Teochew” people of Guangdong Province, China.
Like a band of traveling gypsies these opera troupes work their way around the country performing at the same locations annually. Although Chinese Opera in Thailand is in decline, if you still haven’t witnessed it you should consider going to a show before it’s too late.
