A man from Yangon’s Thaketa township has been charged with murdering his neighbor with a kitchen knife after she reportedly refused to lend him a broom.

Aye Chan Aung, a 19-year-old mason, allegedly confessed to fatally stabbing the woman on Monday and taking her gold ring and a mobile phone.

He told police they argued after he asked to borrow the broom and was refused, the Global New Light of Myanmar reported.

The victim’s son found her body inside her home in Yanpay ward.
