Professors at Mandalay’s Yadanabon University discovered yesterday morning that one of the Chemistry department rooms containing answer sheets for the currently ongoing exams had been broken into.
The offenders got in by cutting through the iron bars on the first-floor room’s windows.
“It was the room that had the answer sheets, so it [the culprit] must’ve been a student. There was nothing else of value in that room…They’re currently investigating whether any answer sheets were taken or not,” a professor from the Yadanabon University told 7Day.
University officials have confirmed that there was a small break-in but that nothing was stolen, excluding the investigation into the possible removal of some answer sheets. They also suggested that the incident was probably just a few students fooling around.
University-wide exams had taken place from March 20 to 28. Officials believe that the break-in took place at some point during this past long weekend when the university was also closed on Monday for Armed Forces Day.
So far, the university has not opened an official case at the Amarapura Police Station.
