In case you missed the opening of Yangon’s first 24/7 bus shuttle, OMNI Focus has just released a Michael Bay-esque video documenting the occasion, replete with an epic score and dramatic cinematography.
The panning shots of ministers and owners, inspecting the bus and blessing it with the traditional padauk flower doused in water was hyped up with a soundtrack that would be right at home in a Transformers movie.
Seriously. This is easily the most dramatic shots of Burmese businessmen and politicians posing in front of a bus we have ever seen. (Editor: The bar was admittedly set pretty low on that.)
On the same day as the video’s release, OMNI Focus also announced the additions of four more fleets to their 24/7 service — the YBS 20, 83, 89 and the 99 — which will start running on Dec 19, according to the Myanmar Times Burmese language edition.
The 20, 83 and 99 buses all start in Hlaingtharyar, a western township in Yangon. The 20 will take you to Thakin Mya Park in the western part of downtown Yangon while the 83 takes you to Innwa Housing in South Dagon. The 99 cuts across the city and takes its passengers to Dagon Seikkan, across the Pazundaung Creek.
The 89 starts near the Kyeemyindaing Night Market and takes you across downtown to South Dagon township.
Hopefully we’ll see similar installments in the “epic bus unveiling” genre as each new bus line is announced. After all, there are seven Transformers movies.
