A township judge was killed earlier today after getting into a motorcycle accident on the outskirts of Waw.

The accident happened around 3am this morning on a road outside the city of Waw, located in the Bago District, when the judge’s motorcycle and a truck crashed into one another.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Thiha Lwin, a deputy Waw township judge. He and 28-year-old Saing Thiha, a deputy township public prosecutor, were driving back to the city from a nearby pagoda when they collided with a 12-wheeler Fuso truck.

“The judge was driving the motorcycle. When they crashed into the 12-wheeler, the judge’s leg got caught between the bike seat and handlebar, and he sustained injuries to the back of his dead. He died on the spot,” a Waw police officer told Kumudra.

The officer also stated that Saing Thiha scraped open his knee and chin, but sustained no serious injuries.

The Waw Police Station has opened a case against the truck driver, Than Tun, under Section 304(A) for causing death by negligence, and Section 338 for causing grievous hurt.
