Stabbed opposition MP has severed tendon, expected to recover

The opposition candidate stabbed in a sword attack on a National League for Democracy convoy in Thaketa Township last night has a severed tendon but is expected to recover, according to his doctor.

Naing Ngan Lin, a sitting lawmaker for Dekkahinathiri Township in Naypyitaw who is running for re-election in Thaketa ahead of November 8 polls, was rushed to Yangon General Hospital late last night.

He sustained a severed tendon, the doctor treating him told Frontier Myanmar.

Three of the six attackers have been detained, police said.

Several other NLD members sustained minor injuries.
