Small storm to hit Myanmar next week

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) predicts the formation of a small storm in the Bay of Bengal in the second week of May.

The department’s forecast said moderate monsoon winds will enter southern Myanmar as the low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal intensifies into a small storm.

Rain is expected to fall over Taninthayi Region and Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon states.

Thunder storms are expected to occur over Taninthayi Region, Rakhine State, and Mon State for six to eight days. Chin State and Kayin State will experience rain for three to five days.

Temperatures in Mandalay and Magwe regions are predicted to be two degrees centigrade above average.
