The superintendent of Pyar Pon Hospital, located in the Ayeyarwady Region, has been admitted to Yangon’s Waybargi Hospital after testing positive for H1N1.

“She started feeling ill around July 29, and she stopped coming to the hospital. We ran tests on August 2 and when they came back positive, she was transferred to Yangon,”  Dr. Tun Myint of the Ayeyarwady Regional Public Health Department told The Voice.

Dr. Sein Sein has been superintendent of Pyar Pon Hospital for approximately two and a half years. Hospital officials say that before falling ill, she gave seminars on H1N1 prevention, as well as helped treat patients who were diagnosed with H1N1. She was brought to North Okkalapa’s Waybargi Hospital on Thursday.

According to The Irrawaddy, seven patients in the region have died as a result of H1N1, and 15 are currently receiving treatment for the disease.

Dr. Tun Myint also stated that Dr. Sein Sein’s prognosis looks good, so let’s hope she makes a full and speedy recovery.
