If you were in the vicinity of Pyay Road in Yangon’s Insein Township last night and noticed a particularly bad traffic snarl, we’ve solved the mystery for you.

Cars were forced to slow to a crawl thanks to a wild brawl that broke out amongst a group of fist- and stick-swinging men in the middle of the street outside a pub.

This being 2019 and all, the incident was captured on video and swiftly posted to Facebook, complete with helpful narration by onlookers, who provided imitation fight noises with every blow that landed.

“They must be drunk,” one particularly insightful onlooker remarked.

When the fight almost seemed to be breaking up, a yellow shirt-clad man wielding a metal pole charged back into the fray and took a cheap shot. Despite the fact that his target was also wearing a yellow shirt, we suspect the clash had more to do with booze and machismo than clashing outfits.

The two then continued to spar with their metal poles, until others managed to wrestle the weapons away from them, at which point they simply kept fighting with their bare hands.

“You’re going to die tonight!” someone can be heard yelling.

In another video, taken prior to the brawl from a higher vantage point, the group of involved men can be seen wandering around two cars parked in the middle of the street and loudly shouting at each other.

“It’s on Pyay Road. That guy is clearly drunk. There are a lot of cars just lining up. I don’t know how it started but the other guys left. I came out to look when I heard the shouting,” the person filming that video says off camera.

While neither video makes it clear who initiated the fight, we’re willing to declare a winner: the onlookers who narrated the showdown with cartoon sound effects.
