Poe Sandar Khin, a 24-year-old model and finalist for the 2016 Miss World Myanmar contest, passed out and died after exercising at a gym in Yangon on Saturday.
She was training for the Miss World Myanmar contest at the time and had just gotten off a stairmaster or treadmill when something went horribly wrong, a relative told Mizzima.
“She lost consciousness when she sat down,” the relative was quoted as saying, adding that she was then sent the hospital.
The cause of death wasn’t immediately clear.
In addition to being a finalist for the Miss World Myanmar contest she had also won a “Sky Angel” award from Thai carrier Nok Air. She had just turned 24 in June.
A funeral was held on Monday.
