Monsoon descends on Myanmar

Rain fell in almost all of Myanmar’s states and regions today, including Naypyidaw, Yangon Region and Mandalay Region, announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

According to AccuWeather, 56 millimeters of rain will fall in Yangon today, and more rain is expected every day for the remainder of the month, and beyond.

However, high temperatures persist in some dry parts of the country: 43˚C in Chauk (Magwe Region), 42˚C in Monywa (Sagaing Region) and 41˚C in Bagan (Mandalay Region).

The Times of India reported today that the first rains of the season have come to the Bay of Bengal six days ahead of schedule.
