Man electrocuted by fallen power cable outside his home

A man was electrocuted yesterday when a power cable fell on him right outside his home.

The deceased, 42-year-old Naing Win, was a resident of Mingaladon Township and worked as a motorcycle delivery driver.

A witness told Kumudra that Naing Win was home yesterday afternoon when it started drizzling. Worried that the rain would splash inside his house, he went outside to tie a makeshift awning between his fence and the roof of his home. While he was tying the ropes, a nearby power cable snapped and fell on top of Naing Win, electrocuting him on the spot.

His body has been transferred to the May Dawi General Hospital for examination. Neighbors are also calling on the Ministry of Electricity and Energy for reparations for Naing Win’s family.

He is survived by an eight-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter.
