Inebriated father tosses infant daughter into empty creek

Awful news out of the Mandalay Region as Mogok police have opened a case against a man who murdered his infant daughter in a drunken state.

According to Kumudra, the four month old child and her mother lived in a house in Mogok Township’s Shan Kone Sone village. On Tuesday, the woman’s ex-husband (and child’s father) showed up at their home wasted. He told his ex-wife that he just wanted to hold his daughter, but then ran out of the house with the baby. He then stopped at a creek bridge about 30 feet away from the house, and threw his daughter into the empty 15-feet high creek.

When the infant was retrieved, she was bleeding from her ears and had a cracked head, along with several other injuries. She was rushed to the Mogok Hospital, but sadly succumbed to her wounds later that same day.

The Mogok Regional Police Station initially opened a case against the 26-year-old culprit for attempted murder under Section 307 of the Myanmar Penal Code. Once the child died, they amended the case to a murder charge under Section 302.
