MINGALADON

Mingaladon Township is best known for being home to the ever-expanding Yangon International Airport. The city's northernmost township also features Hlawga National Park — a wildlife park where tourists can see some of Myanmar's indigenous animals. The park houses an elephant chained to a tree and a hippopotamus in a small concrete enclosure, though the deer and monkeys roam free. Much of the township is underdeveloped and lacks basic municipal services. Its industrial zone is often the site of labor disputes, and the area also makes the news for its relatively frequent motorbike accidents and murders.
