KAMARYUT

Farther west along University Avenue road is Kamaryut Township. Judging by the name, you may not be surprised to discover that this is the home of Yangon University, a sprawling campus that dates back to the British colonial era. Here we have the southwestern shores of Myanmar’s biggest body of water, Inya Lake, and the quarter of Hledan, a funky neighborhood full of street food and bookshops and even a mini-mall, Hledan Centre. The area is popular with artists.
