DAGON MYOTHIT (NORTH)

North Dagon Township is considered one of the more developed of the several "new city" projects built by the military government shortly after its coup in 1988. It is home to Dagon University — the city's largest undergraduate institution. It is also beyond the reach of the city's motorbike ban, giving it a different feel from the rest of the city. It is also home to many without formal housing — a problem the local government is still struggling to solve. The neighborhood is also home to Yangon's first and possibly only jimjilbang, or Korean spa.
