‘Sucky fucky’: Bizarre death metal video warns of sex tourism and ‘Western sexual pathologies’ in Myanmar

In a bizarre new music video released on social media this week, Myanmar death metal band Nightmare warns that the country is set to become Southeast Asia’s ‘next massive sex-tourism destination and export ground for Western sexual pathologies’.

The film for the song, the originally titled ‘Asian Hooker’, follows a sex worker as she heads to a Yangon nightclub packed with sleazy dudes sipping Grand Royal whisky.

The lyrics, sung in English by a wannabe john who is presumed to be Western, detail a grotesque quest to score sex and drugs in Asia.

Example: “I’m in Yangon/ I’m looking for a whore/ I tried to score some blow/ But I don’t speak Burmese, no”; “Wrap sticky rice on my dick”.

And the catchy chorus: “Sucky fucky/ sucky fucky”.

In an explanation published on its Facebook page, production company Turning Tables wrote: “This song was made to help protect the daughters of Myanmar and remind us all that women are not a commodity that society is at fault for the exploitation of the sex industry.

“With vast poverty and a tradition for slavery and child labor Myanmar is prone to become the next massive sex-tourism destination and export ground for Western sexual pathologies.

“Despite prostitution being illegal the night life is all ready [sic] full of girls for sale and trafficking to Malaysia, South Korea and neighboring countries are big business.”

Apart from giving everyone the heebie-jeebies, the video also propagates the idea that Asia’s sex trade is driven solely by depraved Westerners. While sex tourism is undoubtedly big business in places like Thailand, studies suggest the majority of clients in Southeast Asian nations are not foreign.

Turning Tables could not be immediately reached for comment.
