Catch Filipino indie band Dragonfly Collector at Myanm/art on Friday.

Acoustic night at Myanm/art (Friday)

Filipino folk band Dragonfly Collector play an intimate night at the small Bogalazay Street venue. They’re joined by local musicians Marilyn Lynn and Rachel Tayza. Perfect for a rainy evening.

Myanm/art, #101 Bogalayzay Street. 7pm.

No U Turn at J-One (Friday)

Myanmar’s No U Turn bring their brand of peppy punk rock to J-One. Think Blink 182, Burmese-style. Tickets are K5,000 on the door.

J-One, behind the Union Business Center, Bocho Street. 8:30pm.

Bread baking at Governor’s Residence (Saturday)

Pamper yourself – or a date – with a lavish Sunday treat at the Governor’s Residence. The luxury hotel is hosting a bread baking workshop with French pastry chef Stephane Chambelant. The day starts with a trip to the market and ends with a picnic where guests can sack on their homemade breads along with cheeses and cold cuts. The package also includes a Schubert wine tasting. It’s pricey, though, at $69 per person.

Governor’s Residence, #35 Taw Win Street. 8:30am.

Slam poetry at Pansuriya (Saturday)

Spoken word poets take to the stage at art gallery-restaurant Pansuriya on Saturday night. Burmese poetry lovers from the collective ‘Slam Express’ are organizing the event and performances will be in a mix of both English and Burmese. Entrance is free. If you want to perform, email your verse to nicolas.poyo.toe@gmail.com.

Pansuriya, #102 Bogalayzay Street. From 6:30pm.

German Frühschoppen at Mahlzeit (Sunday)

Stuff yourself with white sausages, pretzels, potato salad and more at Mahlzeit’s monthly feast. All you can eat and drink (the beer is German!) for K32,500.

Mahlzeit, #84 Pan Hlaing Street. 10:30am until 3pm.
