Rangoon Tea House is moving

Big news in the world of Yangon cuisine. Rangoon Teahouse, the popular Myanmar eatery set in a renovated colonial building downtown, is moving….

Downstairs.

The restaurant, which opened in 2014 and quickly established a fanbase among tourists and locals alike for its stylish setting and upmarket take on traditional food, is swapping its airy first-floor location for a ground-level next door.

In a Facebook post, the owners promised the new space would be “bigger, better and more beautiful”. We’ll miss that winding wooden staircase though…

Manager Isabella Sway-Tin told us earlier this year, “the idea behind expanding is in order to enhance the experience for customers, especially in terms of ambiance, quality and comfort.”

The original location closes tomorrow and the new place won’t open until November 4.

That’s three whole days of no RTH. Hope you can make it. If not, there’s always Pansuriya.
