Party in the delta with Myami Vice

Looking for something different? On December 10 and 11, the Myami Vice Beach Party will take place just south of Yangon.

The event’s co-organizer Charlie Artingstoll explains: “It’s a party at a beat up beach resort a tiny bit south of Yangon. It’s not somewhere where you would want to have your honeymoon, but it’s a great place for a party. We’re going to set it all up – bring across a generator, fly in DJs, organize chilled drinks and nice food and manage transport. It should be a really good time. Any excuse to try something new and get out of Yangon, even just a tiny adventure for a day and a night, can’t be a bad thing.”

Here’s more from the event’s Facebook page:

Ninety minutes south of Yangon, at the edge of the Ayeyawady Delta, bordering the Andaman Sea, lies the once palatial Orchid Adventure Shore Resort. For the past decade, it has slumbered in an increasing state of disrepair, dereliction and destitution. Until now. On December 10, this once great resort will reopen its doors, hosting a 24-hour party of the lowest caliber. Expect palm trees, campfires, beach activities, hammocks, sublime tropical house music and snakes.

It’s definitely not going to be pretty, but it’s certainly going to be fun.

Want to be the judge of that? Standard tickets cost K40,000 and include transportation to the resort from the Dala jetty.
