If you thought you’d ticked Vietnam off your travel list by visiting Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, think again. The country is full of rich culture and breathtaking nature escapes, one of which is the coastal city of Quy Nhon in Binh Dinh province — and that’s where the newest Anantara is located.

Sprawled across a quiet bay in south central Vietnam, surrounded by pristine beaches and clear waters, Anantara Quy Nhon Villas is set to welcome visitors to its lush landscapes later this year. With 26 one- and two-bedroom villas all facing the emerald ocean and ensconced by tropical gardens, the resort takes inspiration from its environment in its design, featuring locally-sourced materials and traditional craftsmanship elements.

Each accommodation houses timber and granite sundecks, with private pools and splashes of Vietnamese blue stone alongside marble details. To make things less chain hotel-like and a little more personalized, guests get in-room butler services and customizable luxury amenities such as room scents (like lemongrass or green tea), soaps, and wine selections.

Elsewhere on the resort, Anantara Spa sits on a hill with its nature-influenced treatment suites, cliff-side pavilions, double massage beds, and oversized tubs for coconut milk soaks. Those keen on having a private session with alternative therapists trained in holistic healing can also do so by slotting themselves into the wellness calendar.

Dining-wise, local seafood and regional flavors take centre stage at Sea.Fire.Salt, while the swim-up bar faces the ocean and offers cocktails, Vietnamese craft beers, and Cuban cigars. Otherwise, you can choose to have breakfast in bed, or arrange for a “castaway” island picnic where fishing trawlers take you to your own secluded spot.

To explore beyond the resort, guided tours are available to take guests to nearby cultural attractions, including the relics of the Champa civilization and Buddhist pagodas that’ve stood the test of time for centuries. Other activities include rice paper-making workshops and hat weaving workshops at the home of a fifth generation maker.

No room rates are available yet, but Anantara Quy Nhon Villas will open in late November this year and officially launch in January 2019.
