Anyone who’s ever traveled to the Maldives will know that the South Asian country brims with hotels dotting the Indian Ocean, each with their own little slice of island heaven, making it almost impossible to even choose one to holiday in.

If you thought the possibilities were endless, you’re about to be overwhelmed with more — come early 2019, the country’s first integrated lifestyle development will open at Emboodhoo Lagoon. Comprising nine islands, eight hotels and resorts, and a variety of dining, retail, entertainment, and leisure options, Crossroads by Singha Estate is quite the massive undertaking.

One of the brands involved in this tourism initiative is SAii Lagoon Maldives, which is part of Curio Collection by Hilton. Surrounded by fluffy white sand and emerald waters, the 198-key resort sits 15 minutes away from Velena International Airport by boat, with deluxe rooms, beach villas, and overwater villas boasting those panoramic ocean views that the Maldives is so famous for.

The designs, inspired by the island’s tropical settings, are created by renowned architect Bill Bensley, each living space with its own custom-made furnishings, outdoor deck, and waterfall shower. If you’re feeling like a splurge, the two-bedroom overwater villa comes with its own private pool so you won’t have to mingle with other vacationers.

Situated across a footbridge from Crossroads, SAii Lagoon Maldives offers easy access to the marine life protection Maldives Discovery Centre, a junior beach club, a 30-berth marina, and various retail and dining outlets — unlike many other resorts in the area, where everything’s pretty much confined to the island and its surrounding waters.

But if you’d like to stay in for a bit, Cafe del Mar offers daily breakfast spreads, bean/Co is where you’ll find coffees and teas, Miss Olive Oyl features Mediterranean bites and grilled seafood by the pool, and Mr Tomyam is the resort’s resident Thai fusion eatery.

Other facilities in the space include the Hub, where guests can swing by for complimentary snacks and create their own scented bathroom amenities at the Aroma Lab.

Prices for the resort aren’t available yet, so check back before its opening in early 2019 for updates.
