Booze ban: Alcohol sales prohibited for 48 hours to observe holiday

For those who plan to drink like a fish during the long holiday, you’d better buy beer and liquor early because stores won’t sell you booze for two days straight — at least the ones that follow the laws.

Marked as religious days, the sale of alcohol is prohibited on July 19-20 (Tuesday and Wednesday).

Basically put, the sales of alcohol will go on until Monday at 11:59pm and resume on Thursday morning. Stock up!

If you forget, however, airport duty-free shops can still sell during the ban, so that’s another legal option.

According to the Ministry of Interior Affairs Permanent Secretary Krissada Boonrat, the ban will be severely enforced this year and those caught violating it will be prosecuted in the “strictest manner,” reported Khaosod English.

For those of us who are not religious, enjoy the booze-filled holiday, however you get your fix.
