Woman recounts experience of sexual harassment on MRT, in which a boner was pressed onto her back

Just last night, a young lady took to Facebook to describe a highly revolting experience while travelling on the MRT, where she had the displeasure of feeling a stranger’s erection from behind.

In case of TL;DR:

  • She had been heading to her grandmother’s house, and was taking the train on the North-East Line.
  • At 6.40pm between Bishan and Ang Mo Kio MRT stations, she felt something touching her just below her tailbone area, but initially dismissed it as the train was packed due to rush hour.
  • However, there were small gaps between the people around her, which made her realise that whatever was touching her was a lot closer than usual.
  • As she turned behind to locate the source of her discomfort, her eyes came inches (she capped all letters to emphasise her shock) from a nose belonging to – from her estimation – a male in his late 20s to early 30s. According to her, the man was pushing his erection onto her person.
  • She tried to stand in a way where she wouldn’t be in contact with the perpetrator’s boner any longer, which didn’t work as the guy apparently didn’t get the memo that she was on to his atrocity, leaving them in a “weird and awkward position.”
  • When the train thankfully opened its doors at Ang Mo Kio Station, she instinctively shoved the guy with her back before walking out of the train.

FYI, she had been wearing an”outfit that (she) would usually wear to go to the supermarket” — so don’t even start with your slut-shaming.

According to her post, she sent SMRT a feedback on the issue, and emphasised how sexual harassment cases should never be taken lightly, no matter how small the offence.

“I know stories like this don’t appear a lot because of the stigma and victim blaming nature that society has upon sexual assault cases,” she wrote. Sad, but true.

Either way, kudos to the lady for handling the situation well.
