It’s a strange love story — one blighted by a partner’s felonious lust.

Kevin Chin Thain Min, 35, was discovered by his wife in July 2015 to have taken various films of her female friends with his mobile phone. He was arrested at Changi Airport in March last year and sentenced to 14 days short detention order – a community sentence that detains him in prison for a maximum of 14 days.

Here’s what he did before he was discovered:

  • In June 2014, he stole a female friend’s key while he was at her house on an invitation. Between October and December later that year, he returned to her house with the key and installed a camera within a small crack in her bathroom’s false ceiling. It enabled him to view her undressing in the shower.
  • Also in 2014, he invited a second victim to his house and filmed her while she was in the toilet.
  • Once more in a separate incident, he used a mobile phone to record a video of her undergarments while she was in a test car with his son and her children.

According to The Straits Times, the wife of the freelance motoring journalist discovered the incriminating — and dare we mention, distasteful — videos while using his mobile phone. She also realized that he installed hidden cameras in several household items and kept a range of women’s undergarments.

Upon being confronted by his wife, he threw away said collection and declared that he would delete all the incriminating media files.

She turned him over to the police anyway.

In court, a psychiatric analysis revealed that Chin suffers from voyeuristic and fetishistic paraphilic disorder, which led him to commit the offences.

Currently, Chin is attending therapy and counseling to treat his mental illness.

By the way, if you recall, we mentioned that this is a strange love story. His wife, who’s a legal counsel, has since forgiven him for his misdeeds and their relationship has improved tremendously.

In the end, it seems like all’s well that ends well.
