Only in Japan, right? In a country rife with deeply bizarre commercials and game shows (including kids drinking milk sprayed from a cow-colored UFO), it doesn’t seem like much of a stretch that instant noodles get anthropomorphically personified.
Nissin Cup Noodles has a new ad, and it involves anime versions of its three flavors: Tom Yum Kung, Black Pepper Crab, and… Singapore Laksa. To make it even weirder, the three humanized cup noodle flavors are part of Club.Es, a fictional Japanese host club. FYI, host clubs are where female customers pay for handsome male “hosts” to shower them with attention and have drinks with them.
So in this case, the anime personification of Singapore Laksa instant noodles is a slick dude with long blonde locks wearing a laksa-colored suit, accompanied by a chicken companion.
He’s so into his job that he’ll take the cup noodles to bed with him. Oh, Japan.
