One of the worst scenarios dreaded by motorcyclists is getting thrown off your ride, and especially so on an expressway where motorists behind them might not be distant (or alert) enough to pump the brakes in time.
A lot of things could have gone wrong for this motorcyclist, but the fates were kind enough to bless him with balance after he hit a stray piece of wood along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on Monday. In a dashcam clip uploaded on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page, a very fortunate rider — believed to be Malaysian — was caught in a near accident when a trailer truck hit a wooden plank on the road and sent it bouncing towards him. The unavoidable impact caused the rider to wobble side to side intensely, but he miraculously managed to maintain his balance and rode on.
The near accident was severe enough to shake off his belongings from his motorcycle case onto the road — but considering that the man managed to emerge unscathed, it’s a fair price to pay.
The uploader then shared a dashcam clip from another angle that showed that the wooden plank was already on the road prior to the close shave, and not something that fell from the trailer.
