As we all know, the commute from the eastern end of the island to the western side is a long, long slog that might as well be considered an epic adventure fraught with trials and tribulations. After all, hell is other people — especially the people on a crowded MRT.
A gorgeously animated cartoon that you simply have to watch takes all the relatable, unpleasant parts of an everyday MRT commute to hilarious hyperbole. From the sleeping uncle slobbering all over you to the yapping kid; from the silent, deadly farts to that intimate couple who might as well be considered one organism.
“As this film is targeted to be appreciated to everyone, one need not be a local to understand the animation as such a journey is relatable to any individual who have taken the public transport regardless of what nationality one might originate from,” wrote the cartoon’s art director, Zuhairee Mohd. “Reminding viewers that life may be frustrating at times, but it can be laughed at.”
This is one satire that hits very close to home.
