You’ve read the news of Tiong Bahru Market and Food Centre’s temporary closure; you’ve walked down the memory lane of the market’s heydays in the 1980s. Now we have one more piece of the nostalgia puzzle to showcase.

As mentioned previously, Seng Poh Road Market was constructed sometime in the 1950s, turning the original wet market into a shared space between market and hawker vendors. Now, those of us who did not reside near the Seng Poh area or who’ve never frequented the pre-renovated market would probably not remember what it’s like, but worry not; what follows will be a real nostalgia trip for everyone involved. Recently shared on the Tiong Bahru Estate Facebook page, the video was actually uploaded back in 2011 — and since the new market’s currently going through its first round of renovations, this one’s proper relevant to the regulars.
