It’s no secret that the booming industry of bike-sharing in Singapore has been held back by one particular issue: shitty users who can’t help themselves from making the service shitty for everyone else.

From recalcitrant young edge lords who think nothing of thrashing the bikes to older folks who can’t resist taking the two-wheelers for themselves, Singapore could have been a car-lite country eons ago if everyone were actual decent human beings. But as this recently captured clip would show, yobbos come in all forms — even a couple who look like they’re heading for a workout.

Watch as they casually roll two dockless bicycles down into a ditch, seemingly in silent protest of the existence of bike-sharing companies. Even if the bikes were blocking the pathway, the couple really could have just placed them by the side of the staircase instead of leaving them in a drain.

Really, there’s no reason for the politely vulgar deed.

If you are wondering who throws bikes into drains

It’s unclear where and when the clip was captured, but Reddit user u/jaydxn1 provided an excellent analysis of the couple’s possible thought process.

So far, bike-sharing companies have downplayed reports of errant users, stating that they’re a minority. The Land Transport Authority (LTA), however, holds a differing view — especially since nearly 300 indiscriminately parked shared bikes have been impounded so far in 2017 alone.

LTA is currently in the process of finalizing regulations and initiatives to ensure bike-sharing users park their two-wheelers in designated zones.
