Inuka (Inuit for “silent stalker”), the first polar bear in the world to have been born in the tropics, turned 24 today at the Singapore Zoo.
In place of a birthday cake, the chubby ball of fur got something more local: a giant whipped cream-topped ice kachang made of his favourite food like blueberries, strawberries, watermelon and salmon.
Since he was born in his mother Sheba’s den in 1990, keepers have referred to Inuka as their “best Christmas present ever”.
