Flag day volunteers aren’t exactly the public’s favorite. If you’ve been one before, you’ll know all too well the daunting challenge of approaching people to ask for donations. Most of the time, people won’t even look you in the eye as they skirt carefully around you to avoid being asked the dreaded question: “Would you like to donate?”
Of course, not everyone is like that. Kind and generous souls still abound, as do exceptionally humble and sincere flag day helpers, evidenced by Tzu Chi Singapore’s Facebook post over the weekend.
In a show of gratitude and respect to individuals who donated to the Buddhist charity organization, the courteous volunteers actually bowed deeply to thank the public. Like, 90 degrees low.
It was quite the unusual and humbling sight, one that the organization explained was a show of the volunteers’ thankfulness for the opportunity to serve.
