Three men have been arrested over a robbery in Ang Mo Kio yesterday, during which two women were slashed with a penknife that was used by one of the suspects.

In a statement today, police said that the robbery took place at Block 532 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10, where a row of shops is located within an HDB estate.

Photos published by several local media outlets showed police tapes in front of a store called COSY Spa. STOMP reported that, according to a witness at the scene, about 20 to 30 police officers showed up on site following the incident.

The robbers had fled with five mobile phones that belonged to the two women who were attacked, as well as a colleague, police said.

The three men, aged between 37 and 50, will appear in court tomorrow and be charged for robbery with hurt, which carries a maximum penalty of five to 20 years in jail and at least 12 strokes of caning.

This is not the only robbery that has occurred in the neighborhood in recent memory. Just last month, another group of three men was arrested after S$100,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a store located not far away from the scene of this latest incident, at Block 574 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.
