‘Teh tarik fountain’ floods SMU campus due to burst pipe; repairs underway

Behold, Singapore’s newest tourist site:

Located at the heart of Singapore Management University’s (SMU) School of Law campus, social media has taken to tagging this phenomenon as the “Teh Tarik Fountain.” Please don’t scoop the liquid up into your mouth though — it’s really just muddy water.

A spokesman for SMU told TODAY that “an influx of water from the burst mains” caused flooding inside the SMU School of Law building, after PUB managed to isolate the source of the leak by 8.30pm on Sunday night.

Horribly enough, the muddy water was seen pouring from level three to level two on Sunday afternoon.

Repairs are carried out on facilities primarily located on the third floor of the building, as well as some electrical utilities like lifts and gantries. Cleanup works have been ongoing, while affected areas were cleared and dried up — though we imagine the whole place must stink of mud.

On the flip side, social media couldn’t help but take jabs at the new attraction.

Enjoy your “milk tea”, SMU students.
