Having rented lodgings across Singapore through popular homestay service Airbnb, two teenagers are believed to have looted their way through their rental apartments, according to several police reports made by the renters.

18-year-old Muhammad Hakim Muhalil and 19-year-old Nor Amelia Natasha have since been charged with housebreaking today — both are accused of stealing $2,025.80 worth of loot from an apartment on Mount Vernon Road.

TODAY reports that the teens allegedly stole currencies from various countries, a laptop, and a DSLR camera on March 9 by supposedly using a stolen key to access another room in the apartment.

Another police report lodged against the duo stated that items amounting at least $5,000 were found missing after the pair left an Airbnb apartment.

Strangely, TODAY also reported that Hakim had green hair, while Amelia had a blue shower cap on. As you do.

No plea was taken when the charge was read out in court, and the teens will be in remand while investigations continue.

“We have zero tolerance for this sort of behaviour. We worked with the police to help make sure those responsible will be held accountable, and they’ve also been banned from using Airbnb,” said a spokesperson for the company.

“We were deeply concerned to learn about these incidents, and we worked with affected hosts to offer assistance through our host guarantee.”
