Singapore is tightening entry at its borders to fight the spread of the coronavirus.
The Ministry of Health announced today that short-term visitors will not be allowed to enter or transit through Singapore because of the “the heightened risk of importation of COVID-19 cases” and “to conserve resources so we can focus on Singaporeans.”
The order takes effect Monday, March 23 at 11:59pm.
All Singaporeans, Permanent Residents, and Long Term Pass holders returning to Singapore will continue to be allowed entry from abroad but will be required to self-isolate at home for 14 days.
Regarding non-Singaporean work pass holders, the Ministry of Manpower will only allow the entry of those providing essential services, like healthcare and transport.
Singapore announced the first two COVID-19 deaths on the island yesterday – 75-year-old Singaporean woman and a 64-year-old Indonesian man.
