The first of Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) much-anticipated non-stop flights from Singapore to Seattle took off from Changi Airport at about 9:30am today.

This is SIA’s latest destination for its direct US service after it launched routes to Los Angeles and New York last year, and San Francisco in 2016.

According to its press release today, flight SQ28, which is an Airbus A350-900, is due to arrive at the Seattle –Tacoma International Airport around 9am on the same day (on US Pacific time), and will be greeted by a water cannon salute.

Travelers thinking of flying there will be happy to note that there are non-stop flights taking place three times a week throughout this month before it goes up to four times a week from October.

Passengers onboard the first Seattle flight were given goodie bags containing items such as a pen with Batik prints and a notepad with Seattle’s skyline designed on it.

Those in the premium and economy class received 30MB of free Wifi access for text messaging, which lasts two hours or when the data is used up, SIA said. This service will be extended to all economy and premium economy passengers on SIA’s Seattle flights throughout this month only.

The Airbus A350-900 comprises 253 seats, with 42 for business class, 24 for premium economy and 187 for the economy class.

Perhaps it’s time to plan that US trip soon.
