A Singapore-bound Scoot flight was diverted to India yesterday, where it made an emergency landing at Chennai International Airport after a cargo smoke warning was triggered. Flight TR567 had departed Tiruchirappalli, India, around 1:30am local time and was in the air for more than an hour when the alert was activated.
A Scoot spokesman confirmed the incident, revealing that 165 passengers and six crew were on board the Airbus A-320. The aircraft subsequently landed in Chennai around 3:40am local time.

“The aircraft has been grounded for investigations and preliminary assessment indicates a false warning,” Scoot said.
Accommodation and meals were arranged for the passengers, and a replacement flight eventually departed for Singapore at 3:30pm local time yesterday, arriving at Changi Airport around 10pm.
“The safety of our customers are of Scoot’s highest consideration,” the airline added. “We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
