Social media was ablaze last night, lit by snapshots and videos of pop star Rihanna swinging by our shores for a surprise visit to Sephora Ion Orchard. Of course, it wasn’t completely unexpected — bodyguards and fans have to be prepped, after all — which is why the store was flooded with about 200 invited guests and members of the media waiting in anticipation for the 30-year-old to show up.
And show up, Rihanna did — around 9:45pm, in a stunning hot pink Cushnie midi dress that was as vibrant as she was — all smiles and sass interacting with beauty junkies like a polished pro.

The reason for the Barbadian’s stopover? To celebrate the first anniversary of her makeup line, Fenty Beauty. Ever the advocate for her own brand, she even did a quick touch-up with her Invisimatte Blotting Powder after her arrival.
After making its global debut last September, Fenty Beauty has won over the hearts of many a makeup enthusiast, with its range of foundations (which comes in 40 shades), eyeshadow palettes, eyeliners, and new shades of just-released liquid lipsticks.
Joined by Fenty make-up artists Hector Espinal and Priscilla Ono, Rihanna actually took to Instagram to reveal her location right before the event. Perhaps a couple eagle-eyed fans in the Orchard area spotted her Stories in time to make it to see RiRi — but if you weren’t one of them, here are some snaps from the event for you to live vicariously through.
