Ready your brollies: Thunderstorms and heavy rain showers coming your way this Christmas

Instead of frolicking around in a winter wonderland, we’ll be splashing on puddles along pavements this festive season. So this is your friendly reminder to always locate your nearest shelter, because Christmas and New Year merrymaking sessions will most likely be heralded in by thunderstorms and heavy rain showers.

According to a media advisory by the Meteorological Service Singapore last Friday, the final two weeks of 2018 could bring about short spikes of thundery showers, mostly in the afternoon and evening, across six to eight days. We’re also expecting a monsoon surge over one or two days, with strong winds and fierce thunderstorms.

Basically, that means the rain we’ve been getting so far in December isn’t going to cease anytime soon. So it’s best to wear sensible shoes and don’t go anywhere without your umbrella.

Daily temperatures will range between 24°C and 33°C, with a possible low of 23°C whenever there’s heavy rainfall. Fingers crossed for those who enjoyed the sweater weather we had earlier this year.
