This private island two hours away is surrounded by 13 beaches and only takes in 70 guests

About 150 nautical miles north east of Singapore lies a group of five islands in Indonesia. Collectively termed Bawah Private Island, the uninhabited lands are spread across 300 acres, with 13 beaches, three lagoons and 35 villas for guests to immerse themselves in lush greenery. To get there from Singapore, you have to take a ferry to Batam, followed by a private seaplane — the total travel time is about two hours.

Each villa is a private and spacious oasis — choose from options like beach villas with sea views, water villas with sunrise and sunset sights, and garden villas nestled amidst the forest. With a maximum of only 70 guests allowed on the island at any one time, this really is like the ultimate getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.

If you’re the type to get bored easily, check out the island’s features such as a treetop club house, a yoga pavilion, an infinity pool facing the beach, and a pampering spa. You can also explore the area with activities like snorkeling and hiking.

In a bid to preserve and protect the flora and fauna on the island, Bawah doesn’t allow heavy machinery to operate, which means almost everything is done by hand. It’s also against the use of pesticides, and it’s an official marine conservation area, so fishing, anchoring or collection of any marine life is strictly forbidden.
