The police raided the house of a young man who had two airsoft guns in his possession.
It may seem like overkill for the cops to bust him for a couple of toy pistols, but his airsoft guns looked very much like the real deal. Look, they even come in those serious-looking weapons briefcases:
Two guns, pellets and magazines with plastic cartridges were seized from the raid at the 26-year-old man’s residence along Woodlands Drive on Monday.
“Airsoft guns or any other guns which shoot pellets using compressed gas are regulated as ‘arms’ under the Arms & Explosives Act,” said the police in a statement. “No person, unless authorised by a Licence to Possess Arms, shall have in his possession or under his control any of such guns.”
Investigations are currently ongoing against the man, who can be fined up to $10,000 and jailed for up to three years if convicted for importing the guns without a licence. Possessing the gun without a license itself can land him up to another three years in jail and a maximum fine of $5,000 for each gun.
