After living around a Pandan Gardens residential estate for over a decade, a stray cat had its life abruptly cut short by some sick bastard who shoved a knife into the critter’s mouth.

The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) is currently investigating the death of the cat — nicknamed “Senget” — and is calling members of the public with relevant information on the case to get in touch.

A resident by the name of Mahlil Gallagher on Facebook expressed his heartbreak and anger over the savagery dealt on the cat, of which he says is loved by the community in his estate. “Everyday, (a) few aunties and uncles will feed him along with (a) few other cats,” he wrote, adding that Senget would sometimes roam into his own house to look for food.

It was on Jan 5 that the cat was found injured and bloodied at the lift landing of the flat’s void deck by a resident. It died while receiving treatment at a veterinary clinic, according to Mahlil’s account to Channel NewsAsia. Graphic images uploaded on his Facebook page (NSFW link) showed a single large incision made on the roof of the poor cat’s mouth.

Mahlil also assured that a police report has been made, and the matter has also been raised with a Member of Parliament.

“They will not take this issue lightly,” he wrote.

“Hope the culprit will be caught and sentenced to a heavy term.”
