Naval Base Primary School teaching assistant dies in fatal crash with Chinese Embassy car

Students of Naval Base Primary School were saddened to receive news of one of their mentor’s unfortunate death yesterday morning.

32-year-old teaching assistant Tan Kiat Siang had been involved in a fatal accident with a Chinese Embassy car while riding on his motorbike along Mandai Road last Sunday morning, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The paper believes that Tan could have been making his way to the nearby crematorium and columbarium to pay respects to his late father, who had died only three weeks ago.

According to The Straits Times, he was an allied educator and was in charge of the Infocomm Club at Naval Base Primary school, supporting the auxiliary work of teachers.

The driver behind the Chinese Embassy vehicle is currently assisting the police with investigations. Meanwhile, students have been leaving messages in tribute to Tan on his Facebook page.
