It was out of the fire and into the middle of a violent fray for this BMW driver, who was saved from the burning wreckage of his Singapore-registered vehicle only to get beaten up at the side of a road in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Apparently, the angry mob had a reason for it too — the driver allegedly rammed into a motorcyclist earlier on and dragged the motorbike for a short distance before both vehicles went up in flames, according to a witness speaking to Lianhe Zaobao. The motorcyclist was not injured, he said.

The BMW 740 — which already had its wheels on fire — eventually stopped by the roadside, with the blaze spreading across its exterior. A group of men then rushed to the burning wreckage and dragged the driver out to safety… only to start beating him up.

The witness added that the driver seemed to be drunk, as he had been slurring his words and begging for the group not to hit him.

The Fire and Rescue Department was called in to the scene to put out the fire. Three other people — believed to be friends of the BMW driver — arrived to speak to the mob and mediate the tense situation. The driver was then brought away.

Not much else was reported about the aftermath of the chaos. Even the Johor Bahru police district claimed that they did not receive any report about the incident.
