UPDATE: The man who got severely beaten up in the Geylang brawl explains how the whole fight started

Police have nabbed a 22-year-old suspect who was allegedly involved last Thursday morning in a dreadful brawl outside an eatery in Geylang, in which a man and his female companions were caught on video beaten up by a gang of rowdy, violent youths.

The cause of the fight is unclear, as the video began with one group of men intimidating another group of people at Geylang Lorong 19. Police were alerted to the incident at 3.19am. Watch below as one man gets knocked down to the ground and beat up — but the truly deplorable part was when a huge singlet-wearing dude was caught hitting two women, causing one of them to tumble onto the asphalt.

Dashcam footage from a parked car caught the fracas from another angle, with the fight continuing.

According to Channel NewsAsia, one of the men involved in the fight was arrested when police officers arrived — he hurled verbal abuse at them and pushed them away when they tried to arrest him. A Shin Min Daily News report confirmed that the arrested man was indeed the same singlet-wearing brute who was caught on video assaulting the ladies.

Meanwhile, online vigilantes have been working hard to identify him, and it looks like they might have found him already.
