Further investigations found “no abnormalities and injuries reported”, but the police were unable to determine the origin of the noise last night, when they appealed to the public for information.
As it turned out, the “loud sound” was caused by a demolition exercise at the Southern Islands, near the atas residential enclave in Sentosa.
So, nothing to be worried about — just your regularly scheduled demolition tests that’ll continue till May 27. Though explosive noises will be harder to ignore now, especially since a loud sound at Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester turned out to be a heinous terror attack.
